First of all, I have to give a shout out to the in-laws because if they hadn't watched the little ones this probably wouldn't have been possible!
Last night Chick-Fil-A had one of their traditional sleep outs for free combo meals. They do it every time they open a new location. It just so happens that it snowed yesterday and last night it got down into the 20's. Perfect timing..gotta love Utah! But we were prepared with all of our fancy-schmancy camping gear and were pretty toasty warm in our tent. (It also helps that we zipped our sleeping bags together and snuggled to stay warm...if you've never tried it, I would recommend you partake...it's definitely agreeable.) We went to my parents house to raid their gear and my dad thought the sleep out sounded fun...so we brought him along. It was actually really fun (and this is coming from someone who camps out on the heater vents in her house all winter!!) I just bundled up in A LOT of clothes and stayed near the heater when we were in the tent.
It was a sweet set-up though. Chick-Fil-A kept bringing out food for everyone. We got chicken sandwiches, cocoa, hot chicken soup, and believe it or not...ice cream (I didn't partake of the ice cream...I'm not that masochistic!)
They also had games planned for all the "outers". They had relay races, a fun hula-hoop game (that Jer came close to winning) and they also did lip-syncing. We DID NOT participate in that...don't get Jer started on FM100 songs, or he won't stop!! But other than that we hung out in our tent watching movies and playing games. I don't think you could technically say that we were roughing it. There were plenty of people there though that were freezing and bored. They are the ones I would consider CRAZY, but the way we did it...it was basically a slumber party with parkas!
We watched two movies: National Treasure and Blast From the Past (one of my favorites), but we had two DVD players because neither had fully charged batteries and we ended up running through both of them before we technically finished both of the movies. Then we also played Ticket to Ride (one of our favorite games) and although the game board was teetering on a small table the whole time, I think that that only added to the fun and suspense of the game!
A few times during the night they would call us out of our tents and do a role call to make sure that nobody had left. They also wouldn't let you leave the roped off area to go to your car or anything. And let me tell you...they were complete Nazi's about their rules. It wasn't anything that was too hard to comply with though.
Overall, awesome night with great benefits!!
My CHEESY burly men.
I may be nerdy...but I'm warm!

The view out our tent door looking at "Tent City". We were literally packed into a small space like sardines..
Really roughin' it: DVD, heater, camp stove. SWEET!
