Don't Waste Your Time

These pictures are of tulips that are in my front yard!! I'm not sure how someone with a completely enlarged brown thumb could cultivate these exceedingly magnificent flowers, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the quality of bulbs that you buy.....I'll explain. A few years ago I found some bulbs that were a great deal and I bought loads of them. Then I made my poor husband help me dig hundreds of holes in the front yard flower beds in the midst of a winters storm so that we could get the bulbs in the ground before winter. After what seemed like forever (the length of a typical Utah winter), it was Spring again and I waited impatiently for my tulips to come up....and I waited....and I waited. Funny thing. They never came up. Not one!! Needless to say, I was miffed! What had I done wrong that not even one could survive and peak it's little head above the dirt to give me a shred of satisfaction?!?! Well, the next planting season passed and I was still too hurt from my previous experience to try again. But a couple years ago I found some bulbs at Costco and decided to try by brown thumb again and see if it had improved over the last couple of years. After waiting so patiently again for Spring to come....there they were in all of their glory!! And this year, miraculously, they came back again....and seemingly even better this time!! I am so proud!

Moral of the story: Never buy a butt load of bulbs from Honk's....no matter how good of a deal they are!!!
