I realize that I have been M-I-A, but I have been spending quite a bit of time on another endeavor until recently. After the "Big Championship Game" I kind of went on an eating binge and gained 57 pounds. Thus, I have spent the remaining months of my summer at a fat camp for post-adolescent females trying to shed my newly unwanted weight. Okay, that's completely untrue. I was pregnant. Okay, that's not completely the truth either. (No need to start rumors about myself, I suppose!) I wasn't particularly thinking that I would admit to what I was doing, but after talking to a couple of my friends and getting teased for not updating my blog...I suppose I'll air my dirty laundry and confess to my time consuming "vacation". First, there's a precursor. You have to know that I NEVER do anything like this, I never get involved, I don't like to "follow the crowd" per se. Some could attest that I am very nearly incompetent. Another term I hate is "jumping on the bandwagon", but I have been reassured that that isn't relevant if it's something I wanted to do instead of just doing it because other people were doing it.
I am going to come right out and say who's fault it was...my MIL. That's right Annie, this is all on you! She told me, "just read a couple of chapters, it won't hurt you" and "if you don't like it after that, you don't have to feel bad, just give it back to me!" Well, after two chapters I didn't want to stop! I kept going and going and before I knew it I was through with all of it in 6 days. Through with what, you say? The Twilight Saga, of course. Yep. I read all four books in 6 days. Needless to say, my children were fed and bathed, but other than that it may have been slightly bordering on neglectful behavior. (but they're still alive, so I don't think social services needs to get involved.) I had been borrowing my MIL's books, but I kept reading them over and over, so I finally went and bought my own and in the meantime got my mom reading them also. What is it about these books?? I rarely read anything, I just don't like reading at all. (thus entering the incompetency) So for me to sit and read all of these books so thoroughly is an amazing feat.
I do have some qualms about these books/movie though:
1. What the crap kind of horrendously ugly name is RENESME?? I realize that it's the combination of Bella's mom's and MIL's names...but seriously!?
2. I don't know if anyone else checks Stephenie Meyer's web site, but she announced that she was writing another version of Twilight, but this time it was from Edwards perspective. Turns out that someone she trusted leaked out the partial draft of this book out the internet and now she basically said that she won't be finishing it. I read it (because she posted it on her web site, I didn't go looking for the pirated version) and I think that I like Edwards' perspective more than Bella's. She goes into so much more detail with him. Needless to say, I am completely irked that some jerk ruined it for me...I mean ruined it for everyone.
3. I'm a little perturbed at the actors that they chose for the movie. I'm sure they have great skills, but according to the image that I conjured up in my head because of the descriptions Stephenie provided, I don't think a couple of the characters fit.
First, Alice's hair isn't dark enough and from the pictures on her web site, I don't think that she is petite enough.
Secondly, Rosalie is suppose to be the "reincarnation of beauty" and the girl they chose is pretty, but I think they could have done better.
Thirdly, I thought in my mind that Emmitt would be bigger than who they chose. The guy in my head looks more like Colossus from the second X-Men movie (side note: if you don't know who I'm talking about, I suggest you try and see him...it will be worth your time--WOW!)
Fourthly, and lastly. Bella. I don't think the actress they chose fits her description in the book at all. Her hair is way too light and almost red, her eyes aren't dark enough, she doesn't have a heart-shaped face, and if you ask me...her voice is a little too butch. So, needless to say, I think they only hit the Edward character on the head. Now, saying all of that, I must also say that once I see the movie and see all of them interacting and what not, I bet all of my intricate complaints won't mean as much (hopefully).
So anyway, that's what I've been up to. Now leave me alone!

We Are The Champions!!
Who says that coaching doesn't win any games?? Okay, I had very little to do with it. But our men's softball team (the one that I was so irritated about because it used to be a co-ed team....read previous posts for an update) took first place last night!! It was so much fun. The season actually ended last week but we were tied for first so they had a play-off game last night. The other team was Carson Elevator and they had some very manly men on their team. But they still didn't stand a chance against our smaller and much more agile fellas! They played awesome and when it was all over they somehow tricked me into giving my expensive camera to someone else to take a picture of me with the trophy at which point they conned my BIL Aaron into pouring a huge mug of water on me. That's alright though...I can take it. If you want to see who was on our team go to the Ro's Rangers link on "our peeps" list and take a look.

My cute MIL got these donuts and wrote "Go Ro's" on them for our championship game. So fun!

I'm wet.

We are the best!

The Sorensen boys made up half the team. They're awesome!

Our Hobby
Yesterday Jer and I started our yearly tradition of going to the Salt Lake Parade of Homes. We typically love it and Jer takes millions of pictures of things we like so we know what we want when we build our final home. Well, needless to say, we were a little disappointed. The only highlights for the entire day of looking at houses was we found an awesome theater room that I intend to pattern ours after and I loved the upstairs (and ONLY the upstairs) of one house where there were three gigantic kids rooms with a little loft area for them to have a play area and this was all right off of a HUGE craft and scrapbook area that was decked out to the hilt. I LOVE THAT! We did see a really big gaudy house in South Jordan that wasn't even livable...I don't know why they chose any of the finishes that they did...seriously, walking through it I was more irritated than anything. It was still fun though because my MIL and SIL Kylee went with us, which is nice because they help with Ethan and it's fun because I can almost instantly tell which room Kylee would claim for her own if that were her house. In yesterday's case it was the one that had two or three different colors of pink (puke) and black and white zebra stripes (hurl). Seriously, it burnt my retinas. I had to immediately leave the room. But here are a couple pictures of things I did like. We're off again tomorrow to see more...hopefully we have a better experience!

My cute little playa.

This is part of that room I was talking about. First of all--GOO! But notice the look on Kylee's face. She loves it.

It's hard to tell, but this is the theater room that totally rocks!! I can't tell you how many times Ethan and Kylee jumped into those Love Sacs!

This is half...yes, I said half, of the amazing craft room that WILL be in my next home. Isn't it awesome??

Confession

Alright, FINE! I admit it, okay?! I confess that I too have jumped on "The Office" bandwagon! We hadn't ever seen an actual episode when it aired on television, but everyone around us raved about it and we finally borrowed our sister-in-laws DVD's of the first three seasons. (Thanks a lot, Mara!) Every night for the past 3 or 4 nights we have stayed up until at least 1:00 in the morning watching those blasted shows!!! I am dead dog tired and it is all because I HAVE to know whether Jim and Pam really are going to get together or not!!! It is torturous actually staying up that late for me....usually I'm out like a light around 10:00, but I have to admit that it's still worth it. I get quality laughing time with my hubby and we are truly entertained. What can be better than that?!? So, in the end...I guess I should be proud to be an avid fan of "The Office". Keep doin' your thing, Dwight...you rock!

Go Jazz!!

Jer and I had the opportunity to attend Game 3 last night against the ghetto Lakers and it was AWESOME!!! My hearing is still trying to recover because it was incredibly loud and my voice is still rough from chanting "OVER-RATED!!" at Kobe Bryant. That man is a punk. I loath the fact that the Jazz only have to pretend to breath on him and the refs call a foul. It was so sweet to watch him choke late in the fourth quarter when his team needed him! But since I'm trying to be more positive, that concludes my Kobe bashing for today. There can't be enough said for the sweet, sweet seats we had...11th row, people! Hard to beat that. I'd like to thank all those involved in helping us attain those tickets last night....Dani, for her awesome job with excellent perks....Clair and Annie, for watching the munchkins...the Energy Solutions Arena, for creating an exciting venue for our partaking....the Jazz Bear, for risking his life doing stunts for my personal entertainment and gratification....the team, for playing great and winning while I was attending...for the hundreds of screaming teenage girls that all want to marry Kyle Korver....I'd also like to thank the academy for this great honor---wait, wrong speech. Anyway, it was choice. We had a great time. GO JAZZ!

Ode to a DVR
Some might say that having a DVR means you're spoiled or wasting your money....I used to think so. But now that we have one I can honestly say that it has ruined us forever!! Yes, yes, sweetly ruined us forever. We will never go back to regular TV now that we have one, for a few reasons. 1) Ethans' shows are recorded and he can watch them anytime. 2) Watching a Jazz game only takes an hour to watch instead of 3. 3) Commercials are completely non-existent....and that doesn't hurt my feelings at all!! (that way Ethan doesn't see all of the toy commercials and tell me that he wants everything that he sees.) 4) We don't worry about missing our favorite shows because why?? Oh, that's right. They're recorded!! 5) And there is just something cool about being able to record one thing and watch another at the same time. "It is so choice, if you have the means I highly recommend picking one up!" If anyone needed an endorsement to push them over the edge to get one, you now officially have the very coveted Sorensen Stamp of Approval!

I'm So Excited!

It's official! Softball starts on Monday and I am stoked! We had a few changes occur this year that I have to admit, I am a little disappointed about. A couple years ago we put together a team primarily made up of Sorensen's and we called ourselves Ro's Rangers after our muse (the mother of most of the boys on the team and my mother-in-law, RoAnne). We were really good and last year we took first place. But this year we had a couple of girls with lame excuses for why they couldn't play....you know, like being pregnant and stuff...so we weren't able to find enough girls. Much to my dismay, Ro's Rangers has been converted to a men's only team....let's hope only for this season though. I'm still the manager, but that's basically because none of the boys wanted to have to deal with filling out paperwork and lineups and what not. Thankfully I still have my other coed team that I have played on for a few years now, the Powerdawgs. It's a really fun team and they really get into it. They even have their own website where they post our stats and have pictures of each of the players and everything! I put the link to their website on my "linky dinks", check it out. Anyway, I just wanted to formerly tell everyone that I may be out of shape from having a baby a few months ago, but my mere excitement to play is going to more than make up for my lack of skill this season. I can't wait for Monday!!!

The Coolest House!

This weekend we went to St. George with Jer's family for a quick getaway and some down time. While we were there we spent a few hours each day touring the Parade of Homes (which happens to be one of our favorite past times. I love that Jer gets into it and takes pictures of everything we like for our future home....it's the best!) It's official! This is now my dream home! I love the layout of this house and I think it's the coolest that there is a breezeway. The one that was in St. George didn't have a basement, but we would for sure put in a basement. Mark my words...this house will be ours!!
