My Husband the Cub Scout
Jer was just put in as first counselor in the bishopric and he and the other counselor thought it would be really fun to get a couple of pine wood derby cars...build them...and participate in the pine wood derby races that the cub scouts do. Jer used the band saw and made his car into the shape of a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V (and yes, he made sure that I new exactly what kind of car it was!) He got it all painted and ready, but didn't have time to weight it down. We showed up at the race and he hurried and taped his car keys to the top of it (which stuck off the front of the car to give him a little edge!) Ethan loved helping Jer put it on the track and run down to the end to pick it back up. Jer even won most of the races he was in. There was one little boy that won every race he was in and his car barely beat Jer's (what a shame). There's nothing like watching a bunch of 8-10 year olds and my husband running around excitedly because wood cars are flying down a track. Ahhh, boys! Jer even got an award...."The Classiest Car" award. What an exciting night.

Good job almost-bishop-Jeremy! Maybe you should bring some of that competition to the volleyball court sometime.
Our ward always does an "adult" pinewood derby in addition to the cub scouts one - and they are tons of fun. The trophies are always odd - usually picked up from the DI - and everyone has a great time!
You must be so proud of your big boy!
Jeremy this is Ty. Nothing could make me prouder than you in Cub Scouts. That's so awesome about your calling. Must be livin' right!
